2 batteries down to one, what to do with the charger?

Morning folks, I Have a spare 12v battery in the back of the boat that I am thinking about removing but I am unsure what to do with the 2 bank battery charger leads. I think the best idea would be to just go out and purchase a one bank charger but in the mean time can I just wrap the unused ends in electrical tape?

Some chargers have fuses running from the charger to the batteries you can pull that fuse out of the bank you are not using and should be good that’s what I have done in the past

Yea if it’s like the one I had it’s got inline fuses sure other guys will weigh in on new chargers, I bought the cheaper minn Kota 3 bank and I really like it and it seems really well built. The NOCO seems to be the new one a lot of guys are switching to.

Put both leads on the one battery.

Yes all leads need to be hooked up. Most chargers will not charge if any leads are disconnected.

Before you hook two battery chargers to one battery, you should probably check with someone who knows and not someone who is guessing. I have a three bank in my boat stall that I replaced because one bank went bad. I have used one bank of the remaining two to keep a battery in my stall charged for about five years without a problem. I just taped up the red lead from the other good bank.

Read the manual for your specific charger. it will tell you exactly what to do.

So I’m gonna ask the obvious question, but do you only have one battery total in the boat??
