    Trolling motor install

    I have a 1994 champion dc contender.
Trying to install trolling motor but can't access underneath to get nuts and washers on.
Are insulator nuts going to hold up on 70 lb thrust motor

Doesn't your 94 have a TM plug panel on the left side? You can't access if that is removed? To your 2nd question, I don't see an issue using the insulator/nuts.

I have the same year Champion and had the same problem. Those toggles that 86inches recommended are the way to go. You can pick them up at Homedepot and Lowes. I recommend Lowes because they have some heavy duty ones. Insulators will break off and should be changed about every year. Using the toggle, do not use a drill to screw them down. I made the mistake of doing that and went thru about 20 of them before I figured out why they were failing when I tried to tighten. Use a screw driver and take your time until the toggle bites and the retainer won't break off. I've used them for a few years and never had one fail on everything from 50-102 # thrust.
