    2004 TR-196 Electrical Issue?

Electrical Question: I have a 2004 TR-196 and Merc 200 EFI. When I start my main engine my two fish finders (HDS8 Dash, HDS7 Bow) both have a quick flicker power loss. Dash just flickers and stays on but the bow completely repowers/restarts itself?

Haven't tested the starter. Just got 2 new trolling motor batteries a month ago. The starter is new last year, but could be bad I guess. A starter battery can't start the main engine and keep power to the fishfinders if bad? I'll get a new one this weekend.

What if I get a new starter battery and the issue is still there, what should I look for then?

Have it checked first. If it's not the battery could be the wiring to the graphs may be too small or connections?

Sounds like a loose/corroded connection somewhere possibly on the battery or your console.

Bad cranking battery, corroded connections, or cranking battery doesn't have enough cranking amps. Could it be you purchased an undersized cranking battery last year?

Do you charge your cranking battery when boat is not in use?

All very possible options. I will take it out tonight and get it on a meter.
