    Trim Question

I'm not new to boating. Been doing it for 36 years, but I've never really understood this. How do I know how far I can safely trim the motor up when running on plane? I've never really cared before, but I'm tired of just being very conservative with this rather than knowing what the limits are.

I'm not sure if this is the correct way or not, but. When at WOT, I'll run the trim up till I hear the prop sort of cavitate, then just bump it down a bit. If not running WOT, I'll take off with full down trim, when I get the speed I want (pulling a skier or tube) I'll pretty much trim the same way.

Watch your water pressure gauge. When you are at peak trim will be your highest pressure. As you trip up from there your pressure will decrease. Never go beyond where you do not have water coming out of the pee hole.
