    SI Transducer on Tracker TXW

Hi all! Recently purchased a 2012 Tracker TXW and installed a Humminbird Helix 5 SI. Finally took the boat out this Saturday and the images were terrible. So bad that I dont think its my settings. Probably the transducer placement. Im attaching a picture. Any input?

That placement looks good assuming the beam is not hitting the drain plug or a transducer that may be hiding behind the motor.

The Beam shoots off the end of the transducer im assuming so it should be clear of the plug and speed sensor. There is nothing on the other side of transducer but I couldnt see anything on either side of the boat.

It does. My Humminbird HDSI transducer never sees the Lowrance 2D DI transducer. It only clears it by a little.

The SI pulses broadcast from the SIDES of the transducer (one on the right side and one on the left side) almost the total length of the transducer. It's a Side Imaging transducer. The 2D pulse broadcasts from the bottom of the transducer.

I'm shocked that the 2D transducer doesn't interfere with the side image of the SI transducer????

I'm guessing the side image shoots "above" your 2d ducer???

Here's mine, it's a Mega transducer. and I initially worried my 2D ducer would be in the way, but it's not. Perfect side imagine!

If it runs the entire length of the transducer then I’m just lucky. I don’t get any kind of noticeable interference from the Lowrance transducer.

2D runs straight down, side image runs off each side. Not sure of the angle degree the side image runs though.

Post a unit snapshot using the Side Imaging view with 455 kHz.

Are your transducers mounted crooked? looks like the plate is straight and your transducers are crooked.

Plate is at angle, transducers are parallel to bottom pad of boat

X-Ray of a HDSI transducer, the MEGA SI transducer is 1" longer and has a Down Imaging crystal centered but shorter.

Luck has nothing to do with it, the SI pulses using 455 kHz cover from the water's surface to past vertical under the transducer on both sides.
Your other transducer is so close, its echoes are so close to the centerline, it is barely noticed.

Is that good or bad?? Is it too close or is it okay where it is??

Obviously you have no problem with what you have or you would have noticed it.

BUT for a non-step transom like yours, it is best to have the two transducers on opposite sides of the outboard.
A Tracker would have the 2D transducer under the step and at the hull bottom, then the SI transducer above it on the transom surface the motor is attached to.

I have the same boat and just ordered a garmin that has the all in one Transducer. I was planning on mounting it on the bottom of my jackplate. Is that a good idea. I really dot need depth while im running.
