I’m still new to swim baits and grubs. Still don’t have the confidence to throw them very long.
every one here swears by them. What I’m I doing wrong? I just can’t catch a fish on one.

Try a 5" grub on a 1/8 to 1/4 oz jighead, with the hook exposed. Just throw it out and do a "Jimmy Houston retrieve" (steady, barely in sight). If the color is right, you'll catch fish. We have trout, so a trout or smolt color is good, as is Avacado...which isn't far from Chartreuse with black flake. Also a good pitching bait and C'rig bait, in an appropriate size. They will tend to roll a lot on a C'rig, but with a swivel it's not too bad. I don't know crap about swimbaits, but I consider a grub as a swimbait if you use it like a swimbait.
