    They're biting on Quachita....

Or at least they were as of Monday. Been fishing the lower end on and off all last week, up to Monday and the fishing was good. It was not uncommon to catch 15-20 a day. Mainly Kentuckies with a Largemouth or two in the mix. Did manage to catch a 17 1/2" Smallmouth on Monday that weighed about 3lbs. That was a nice bonus for Ouachita!

Seems like I hear about someone catching a smallmouth in Ouachita about once a year. There are quite a few of them in the river above the lake, 99% of them very small. But it’s rare to hear about one caught in the main lake.

This crazy weather seemed to have the fish screwed up today. 80 degrees yesterday and 34 degrees this morning.

I've been fishing Ouachita since the mid 80's and that's the first smallmouth that I've ever caught on what you would consider the actual lake. It was fun for certain.

I don’t understand why they can’t get smallmouth established here. Can’t be that much different than Table Rock, or Bull Shoals. Every little creek and river around here has them.

Im from Kansas originally, so even catching spotted bass is a treat for me.

Broken bow in Oklahoma has smallmouth and that is about as close to a twin type lake to Ouachita I know of.Maybe they need to stock yearling's instead of fingerlings which seemed to of been bait for the zillion little Kentucky's.
