    Metal plate on transom

My uncle owns a Cajun he bought it new and has fished out of it for years. Being a fireman he fished weekdays so I was never really around his boat. Yesterday while visiting my parents his boat is in my father's gurage replacing the steering cables PIA having to pull the motor. Anyway I noticed a metal plate on the outside of the transom. Is this standard on Cajuns and why? As far as I know he has never had any issues with the boat other then repowering.

Mine has one, original. I just assumed it was extra bracing.

Interesting I wonder why? I have heard of guys adding metal plates on boats after having transom issues instead of repairing them the correct way, first time I have seen one put on before.

i have an 87, transome is completly rotted out. i also have a 97 that i use regularly, so i am good.lol ! but the 87 had a home made steel transome on it. i took it off hoping ot restore the boat. got the cap off and now i am stuck. have the wood replacement for it, but the floor needs new plywood. and it is too far gone for ME to restore. sure would like to have someone buy it that loves them as much as i do. if anyone knows someonw that wants one and is willing to buy it i would love to let someone have it for a fair price. has a nice original trailer too. it is a 1987 cajun "fishing machine". 17 1/2 foot. gold with black trim. have most all the original pieces for it too. if some is wiling to take it, give me a holler. i live near SAND ROCK, AL. oyu will need 2 tires for the trailer.
