    Retire where?

Like the title says but I would like to limit the location to southern Indiana. Qualified to mean what fishing lake to live on and fish preferably a semi or fully private lake.
    Which one?
I am planning a long weekend trip over the 4th of July to survey the areas, so please help me out to limit the spots.
    Thanks, lakes

Lakes...you might want to read through this as you think about where you want to live. Gives a pretty good compare state by state what to expect in taxes. https://www.retirementliving.com/taxes-by-state

Thanks Steve, we are not too concerned about taxes in our state, mostly because we have to stay within an hour or 2 of Indy. Wife needs to stay close to her family and I just need to get out of the frozen tundra. Southern side is the best I can do right now.

Seven Springs in Elizabeth. Private lake where the Indiana State record came out of. Homes surround the lake.

We are going to look at this area, it is on my short list right now but know nothing about the fishing there. Also can't afford a house on the lake either, but that's not all the important.

That is about as far south as you can be in the state, state record from there sounds interesting but it does put us too far from wifeys fam.

I live on Hardy Lake don't recommend if you like catching fish other than that the fishing is great.

Don't know about the lake, but have spent a good amount of time in the area. Grandparents had a farm just outside greensburg. Best fishing was in the creeks.

Got to fish it 30 years ago, wife's uncle had a place down there. Neat place back then and pretty good fishing but that was a long time ago.

Lake Santee is small, but is a good bass fishing lake, at least that's what I've been told. I have a friend who has a place there.

I am amazed how many lakes like this exist in Indiana. Checkout this review especially Jet Ski comment:

"Rocky Fork Lake is a little-known lake tucked deep into Parke County, which is fast becoming a tourist destination in Indiana. Should the residents of Parke County get wind of this, development could follow...but for the time being, Rocky Fork is a quiet family oriented (and very clean) fishing lake where you can hear nature more than people, rustling leaves more than crowds, and fishing lines more than jetskis (which aren't allowed by the way.) Piece of heaven for those of use who relax there."

Grew up at lake santee. It is considered private w/yearly lot dues, septic etc. Only 250 acres but has some good fishing. Very crowded weekends but pretty quiet through the week.
How about buying a house 15 miles from santee with 2 ponds, 3300 sq. ft home on 15 acres???? Hmmmmmm 45 minutes from indy.
