2018 Eyra 250 Pro XS Holeshot Setup

Finally got my 2018 Eyra in and took it our and got little over three hours on the break-in. Loving the boat, fun to drive and once able to trim it more it'll be even better. I did notice though that on take off it revved up high and basically blewout then hooked back up and took off. I have the Atlas plate and was running it all the way down, was able to feather it on breakover but wondering what everyone has for setup. Running a 25P Fury 3 no plugs, Atlas plate with guage, 36 Ultrex, 250 Pro XS Torque II, holeshot was after burned most of one tank so may have been little light. Nose jumped straight up almost but wasnt bad time-wise for holeshot. Heard some guys raise plate then drop it to run height and others lower it down and then raise it. Any info would be great

Keep the plate down, and start plugging some of the exhaust ports

That is what the gen2 torquemaster does, Mercury designed it to vent the prop during the holeshot.

No problem at all, I have just never had to put plugs in a Fury before. I guess I will start with one large plus and see what works the best. Just wanted to make sure a starting point

Still fiddling with my new Eyra too. Put partial plugs in all 3 holes but killed my hole shot. Took out a couple of the plugs now I'll try adjusting the height (manual jack plate). My last Cougar with the torque master also had to be modulated at breakover so it seems to be a matter of just finding the best compromise IMO.

My 2018 Eyra with 250 Pro XS / Fury 3 blade 26p runs best with no plugs. It does vent at breakover...but just lift slightly off the throttle, let it grab and then hammer down. Adding 3 of the large hole plugs will absolutely kill it. It bogs the motor so hard that it won't even load on the trailer with them. I haven't tried just 1 large hole plug, just because I have an issue with non-symmetrical venting. May work fine....just the 'engineer' in me says keep everything balanced. If you try 1 plug...let us know how it works. Also, post your top speed and engine rpm with the 25p Fury. Mine with a 26p Fury 3 is 3600-3650 during holeshot and 5900 rpm at 81mph.

I got to take out and do break-in on a new Lynx today, what a boat. SO, I will be taking my Eyra back out tomorrow afternoon and will try one large plug. I dislike the plugs and could feather it but if one works it'll be ok. I wasn't able to open it up the other day but it hit 72 @ 5150 rpms and still trimmed down. That was at 7 on the atlas plate and below the first line on the trim gauge. Hopefully I get a chance to see little more of what can do in the afternoon, even though supposed to be close to 95 tomorrow here

At that elevation you most likely will be better with a 24” Fury.

It depends on the elevation. The Lynx will most likely need a 24” as well.

The Lynx was awesome with the 24, but may be able to spin a 25, we are going to test them some more. Both awesome boats

At or near sea level you would recommend a 25 fury for Eyra/Pro xs?(2017) Trying to get mine dialed in. Came with a 26" fury, but I do have a 25". What do you recommend as far as PVS plugs, mine has 24volt, manual Jackplate, twin Poles.

    Thanks in advance

Eyra does best in South La with a 25 Fury 3.
During the real hot high humidity months, and in real shallow water, a 24 Fury 3 works great also. May not get the top end, but will be quick and shallow out the hole.

Can't remember but did you try a Fury 4 25 also? I sold the Fury 3 25 that came on my Eyra but after having the boat for over a year now I was wondering how the two compare. Everyone says the Eyra doesn't take much trim but I have to get around half on the gauge to get any speed or RPM's. I'm going to have my throttle checked next time I go in for service. If I stayed around 1/4 trim I don't think I could get over 65. Also wondering what speeds people are getting with a Fury 4 25? I think maybe I'm trimming too high at around 73-74 mph.
