Speaking of Lure dye like JJs or Spike It

Having heard stories of guys upsetting bottles in someones boat, etc; I tried to think of ways to prevent that when using them in my boat. Made a wood holder for the small bottles the dye comes in about 3"x3" piece of wood with a hole in the middle and store the dye in one of my lockers. When I go as a coangler in BFLs, COSTAs or state Fed events, I use the dye pens or transfer the chartreuse or blue dye to an eye dropped bottle that I store in a plastic bag in my tackle bag. When using the liquid, I usually apply it out over the water.

I always use the marker pens. If they get a little dry, pry off the end of the pen opposite of the point and use an eye dropper to add more dye from a bottle. If you have a marker that has an applicator on each end, pry off the piece that the applicator is attached to and add dye with an eye dropper.

I keep mine in a ziplock bag, even when dipping my bait.

I saw on a zona show he has a "kit" made up in a big, deep box. I liked that and set one up myself. I keep a couple papertowels on one side to catch drips.

This is how I do it. Stored until I need them then remove the lid and sit it back into the pvc sleeve to use.
The larger slotted pvc sleeve is how I manage take-off hard baits. I frequently change back to a lure during the day and need to be able to find it quickly.

I use a Pelican Micro 1050 case. Each one holds 3 jars of JJs and is padded. They are completely sealed so if one blows up it contains the spill. The box gets ruined but nothing else....it happened to me! It was my fault. I had one of the jars upside down in the case and it burped and a whole jar of chartreuse emptied. It would have been a serious mess.

I use a cheap rubbermade box i found in a local department store. It's about the same size as a small square plano spinnerbait box.

8x4x4 (or so) Plano box (think it was the stand up spinnerbait type) that I put of piece of foam in and cut 3 holes for 3 bottles of JJ's. Pretty hard to spill, and you can lay the bait on the bottom side of the lid to dry while you close up the bottle of dye.

I used an old zoom worm bag. I keep the bottle in it when dipping baits.

Buddy of mine uses a plastic coffee can and hot glues the dye bottle to the bottom of the coffee can. Works pretty good for containing spills and drips.
