    Champ deck insert

Anybody have pictures of deck inserts that you have either made or purchased? I found a couple old threads but was unable to see any of the pictures posted. I have a 1996 202 and am thinking about building an insert and was curious what people have done. I recognized that I might need it when we had two people fishing the front deck yesterday and the other guy almost threw himself off the boat by stepping off the deck accidentally haha.

I have also read about a cooler that was made to fit in that space? I'm not sure if the cooler comes all the way to the top of the deck but that would also be an option if anybody has information on those?

Thanks Ziggy. Do you know if C and O did a factory extension as well?

If you do some searching, there was a post not long ago in this forum about an aftermarket extension. I did a quick look but couldnt find it but I know its here someplace.

The thread I remember was Mosher's uncle....maybe bruce has contact info?

Well...I have completed my deck extension and am just trying to decide if I want to try to match the carpet or to use some of the BlackTip Traction Mat material that Hopin To Cash posted about. The frame is made of 80/20 Inc. extruded aluminum and the top is also aluminum.

very nice walsweeper19. How did you attach it? Is it liftable like a regular lid or do you just slide your stuff under it for storage? That is something I want to do to mine.

What size did you use and how does it feel standing on it?

No pics, but I used 3/4 plywood and made a box with top being hinged for lid, strong as hell and cheap to build.

Sorry I haven’t been on in a couple days guys. The extension sits in the slots used to open the other compartments so I will have to add 1” nylon straps to make them easy to open. To remove the extension you open the other compartments and lift the extension out. It is very sturdy but honestly the aluminum plate would make it quite expensive if you have to pay full price. Fortunately for me, I was able to get a scrap piece from work and cut it down to size. I think a piece of plywood would do just fine on top of the frame.

Was this a converted Fish N Ski?

What are those black blocks mounted all around the lip that the lids sit on? I don't think this would actually work with mine unless I moved the hinges for the lids.
