    Fishing quality. Ranger vs. Tracker

Met a guy yesterday who works for BPS . Says that he’s fished out of both Ranger and Tracker aluminum boats . Claims the Ranger fishes much better than the Tracker . Wondering if anyone has fished out of both and can offer opinions . I’de think that the full foam throughout the Ranger, it would fish better . Oh, and no, he wasn’t trying to sell me a Ranger . Not trying to START A WAR OR ANYTHING, just curious for real world input from those who have experienced both .

    It's all good !

I have neither dog in the fight.

Just wondering how someone defines "fishes better"?

That sir is really personal preference. And should be stated as an opinion. I agree with you.

Having one and access to the other. My opinion is the ride and drivability is better on A Tracker. Between these two in question.

I've fished out of both quite a bit but always as a passenger. In my opinion the Tracker Revolution Hull is a better riding hull and also more stable with the TM down. In rougher water the Tracker is a smoother and DRYER ride. Rangers ride a little harder and get much wetter. Both are good tins but I'd save the extra $$ and go Tracker cause a name don't mean nothing to me.

How is foam inside the hull gonna make it fish better?

Definitely agree with the Ranger is wetter. Revo hull also has a lifting surface. Front deck on the Ranger is larger. I've owned a bunch of boats over the years and the 188 is as stable as my old Glass Ranger 340-V. My test is to step off the dock a couple feet onto the gunnel to see how much it moves. I weigh 255 and it moves about an inch. I always select my boat based on the dealer.

Tracker is definitely a drier ride although I haven't been in a RT198P. Ranger is way more stable with people moving around in the boat while fishing. With the TM down and facing waves, Tracker doesn't bounce as much.

The Tracker gets more comfortable to stand up in over time than the Ranger due to the wood decks getting softer...it's like wearing cushioned shoes

You better check yourself before you wreck yourself gbsmallie... New rules. Read down a couple post until you see the one that talks about the brand bashing.

That to me isn't really brand bashing. That is a misconception of many other boat brand owners. My decks are still solid and it is a 7 year old boat. I have seen some Trackers whose owners left them out in the elements whose decks started rotting and became soft but never saw a deck go bad on a boat that was taken care of.

Used to fish out of a Tracker 175 - now I fish out of a RT188. I can tell you the stability is no comparison in favor of the Ranger. I don't think it's comparing apples to apples because the RT188 is a foot longer and bigger beam, just my experience. I haven't found the ride to be any drier or wetter between the 2, but I haven't been in much rough water in the 188.

I've bolded the only relevant part of your post...after this there is no where to go.

I bet If I compared a 18.5 foot Tracker to a 17.5 foot Ranger the Tracker would win in all categories too.

Whats your point??? A bigger boat is more stable than a smaller boat??

YES, we already know that and I'm sure the OP is aware of this as well.

You know I can't help but point out the OP on this thread never specified a hull size for this comparison?

Trying to decide which BRAND is better without comparing apples to apples is POINTLESS.

Me thinks this thread was designed to be another brand bashing thread...designed to divide us and .

While fishing I have never been wet in either one unless it was raining.
