    Is it worth it?

Looking to get rid of my 998HD SI unit and get the Helix 9 SI...I’m stumped on whether to get the gen 1 unit or take the plunge and get the Mega unit.......is the price hike actually worth it? If it’s not then I want to save some $$ and stick with the gen 1....im sure either way I’ll be happy. And if I get the gen 1 then I can use my existing transducer so that’s a plus.....

The "price hike" between models is $300 and 1/2 of that is the transducer. $350 for the MEGA SI transducer and $200 for the Compact SI transducer.
Plus the current model has CHIRP sonar and CHIRP Imaging. The first generation Helix 9 has neither.

Add to that, the Helix 9 SI GPS is a legacy model and would be on close-out sale if any are still available.

Actually the Helix 10 is what replaced the 900 series. The Helix 9 replaced the 800 series.

I have the helix 9 di chirp g2n on the bow and think it has a really good picture. I can’t imagine the mega could be much better.....but I’ve never seen one so I can’t really compare them

So I went from a 798 with si to a mega 9 with side imaging. The difference for side imaging is so amazing you will be blown away. It is the difference between seeing a blob on the bottom or seeing 3 individual rocks with a pod of bait fish swimming next to them.............

With the Mega units you will have all in one transducer, no more blended di. Meaning the mega will have dedicated di element with the si/2d elements as well

You really need to see one in person. Your jaw would hit the floor
