Best time of year to buy electronics?

I just got a 2017 Ranger RT188 off of the lot and look forward to making some console/bow electronics improvements as well as an Ultrex. Is black friday/cyber monday the best time to shop for electronics and trolling motors?

After or when they are releasing new software and units. Your just going to have the previous years equipment and in 2 to 3, or 7 years no one will know.

The best time is usually right before a new model is released. For example November of every 2 years lowrance introduces a new model. When they released the carbon units in early winter 2016 the gen3 units were price dropped probably 25% off retail. Company’s like the bbc sponsors usually drop the prices every say 6 months or so to try and sell out their inventory of the old models after this as well. Right now is the best time to buy gen3 lowrance and by this time next year all carbons will be cheaper as well.

They usually put that stuff on sale right after you buy one.

Brian at BBG seems very popular, I think I'll be giving him a call. Does he have a username on here?

I'm getting the gist that fishing electronics aren't on sale often and that a high volume distributor is always the person to talk to for deals. Old school, I love it!

If you like Lowrance, the Carbon HDS units have cash back until 4/30.

It seems like Humminbird is best for me - I have a clean slate and like the benefits connecting to an Ultrex provides. I like the idea of a Solix in the console with it's touchscreen and a much larger Helix on the bow. Still trying to understand the benefits of networking through the networking hub instead of just ethernet cable if anyone knows.

Brian can answer that question, he is pretty darn knowledgeable on all brands. His last boat had Ultrex and HB’s, his current boat has Ultrex and Carbons. My RT188 needs an Ultrex LOL. I do have a couple HDS7’s rigged up on it.

His user name is BBG Marine, or you can find his number at BBGmarine.com.

We are lucky to have several good marine electronic sponsors here on BBC. I’ve just known B for years. I agree it doesn’t matter when I buy. They will be on sale within 6 months for a better price. That’s electronics.

Thanks for the info, just read that a Solix is only capable of sharing waypoints with other HB units so a conversation with Brian will help.

Yes a SOLIX or ONIX will only share waypoints with a Helix or number series Humminbird unit.
