Ultrex spot lock issue

Has anyone had an Ultrex lose spot lock (several rapid beeps) when the head turns full lock to the right as in pointing back towards the rear of the boat?

Mine lost spot lock twice while fishing a tournament solo. Both times was in the wind and I hit spot lock as soon as I was hooked up. But I'm not sure as to what position the head was in as I was trying to get the net and land a fish both times and was not watching it.
The second time it cost me a nice fish and a great crank bait.. It came loose and the boat swung around before i realized it the line went around prop.

Foot pedal obstruction is one cause.

Good point- I never thought of that. I could easily have something under my pedal.
