Wonder what the trooper was driving as I find it hard to believe he had a vehicle which was even capable of reaching 150 mph.
I assumed he was driving a Charger also.
ISP are running chargers and have been for several years, with some mixed in other vehicles but the majority of the fleet being chargers
I'm guessing that my 2015 Charger Hemi would top out somewhere around 140+ but my new Charger Daytona will reach 150 as they've made changes including the engine controller and limiter.
I may or may not have been 140 in a Charger. I may or may not have been 135 in an old LT1 Caprice.
I was just reading about these guys in a Hellcat ( https://bigjonracing.com/pages/about-us ) going for 200+ MPH in the standing mile this weekend right here in Victoria at https://www.texasmile.net/. Street legal Ford GT has the record @ 293.6 MPH.
Oh yeah the provincial police...145, not bad
I Had a 1970 Grand Prix that would run 140 MPH.
In the 60's the IHP caught a Ferrari on I-29 at 179 mph. While in custody he told the trooper, " if i hadn't slowed down, you would never have caught me"

My truck stops pulling at 99 and goes to idle engine speed. We here down South, at least my truck, have governors.
As someone who has always owned American muscle, the Nissan GTR is my dream car....that I could maybe, maybe, one day afford. Horsepower is just a number unless you can actually put it to the pavement.
Never had a really fast car, was always more into bikes. Fastest was a Suzuki Busa that really ran hard. Had it up to 173 at Road America track day once. On the street I had it up to about 160 or so. Too old for that shit now. My Ram with a 5.7 hemi is plenty of power these days.
I wound a car up to 140 back in the early 70's. I'm not embarrassed to say I'll never do that again. Scared the crap out of myself with that one.
No one can be wrong that often so it has to be deliberate.
I wish I could buy one. Well I could but I would be divorced shortly after.
