Struggling to Side Image due to Asian Carp at KY Lake

Im sure im not the only one having this issue. It was bad last couple of falls at KY lake but this spring is the worst.
I have been unable to locate any schools of bass in transition. Every creek channel and intersection has so many carp I can barley distinguish brush piles, much less find bass. Im not exaggerating when i say last weekend i did not find one single school of bass or crappie. I was forced to just fish channel swing banks even though i felt the fish were going to me on the primary points and intersections.

Quit using those electronics as a crutch!

Didn't need any electronics last weekend anyways.

KY Lake is done IMO thanks to those Asians!!!! I'm never going there again (I haven't been there in 10+ years anyway...).

Further up the TN river for me where DD are more common....

Hopefully they never make it up to the Great Lakes...

Maybe the new bubblers and sound system will help slow them down.

Learned yesterday that they require current in order to spawn, and the last time we had those conditions above the dam to allow the asian carp to spawn was 4 years ago....life cycle of an asian carp is 8 years, so we've got 4 more left of this current class that spawned above the dam.

Now they do spawn well below the dam, and the bubbler system they are installing at the lock is to try and keep them below the dam. Maybe it will help.

A bunch of asian carp were outfitted with tracking devices and there are supposedly buoys on the lake now, or transponders affixed to some of the navigation buoys, to track their migration patterns to see how many stay above the dam, or go below it and then come back up again.

I’ve read a lot about them also, trying to understand what you mean Scott, conditions 4 years ago? What conditions?

Enough current in the main lake for them to spawn in it.

When they spawn, there has to be enough current to keep the eggs suspended for 2 days for them to hatch...if they sink to the bottom the eggs die.

Asian carp rarely have a successful spawn in a lake unless conditions are right.

Well 2 years ago and last year there were millions of carp fry so some spawned successfully.

Yeah, below the dam. A large portion of those fry are coming up through the lock. That's why KDFWR is trying so hard to try and keep them below the dam with the bubbles and sound system placed at the lock entrance.
