In the past few week I have managed to hit the lakes around here a few times for some reports. Yesterday evening I decided the winds were low enough to try Lake Fork. I found it to be a bit windier than I expected, but I had a good few hours before sunset.
The water temp was approaching the low to mid 60's. We received an additional 1 inch of rain a couple days back so what was cloudy water was now muddy again. The shallows are a jumble of dead vegetation from last year, mixed in with a lot of new submergent grasses. There are new sprigs of hydrilla everywhere you look. Not much has gotten so thick you cannot troll through it though. Typical water clarity was 3 to 6 inches, and a whitish milky color. It was almost depressing if it were not for the good bite.
I caught 12 fish in the short time I was there. Sizes were from one end of the scale to the other. The best baits were 1/8th oz. buzz bait, T-rigged black and blue lizard. I did catch one on a top water frog as well as a strange catch on a frog.
Here are the best of them....
Then it gets weird. How many of these have you managed to catch?
On a frog no less?!?!
Better Luck next Time !!!!!!
