I put mine centered on the non skid pad at the front next to the trolling motor. Easy to pull the line back to the fuse box.

I checked mine (Terrova) with a magnetic compass first then put it in front of the console tucked in the right corner next to the gunnel.

power it on your accessory or something you always turn on anyways if you want it switched for some reason. you can put the sensor in a compartment or under the bow it just needs to point the right way it doesnt need line of site or anything else.

What exactly does the heading sensor do? My ultrex works fine whether I pair it or not. I have Lowrance units.

I have lowrance also. I have been told it’s for the spot lock for the lowrance users. Of course I could be be totally wrong.

Pretty sure it helps in knowing what way your boat is facing and helping the jog feature work correctly.

heading sensor tells it which way your boat is facing which it only needs if you use spot lock and then the remote to jog a direction 5 feet at a time.

If you dont use your remote ever then you dont use jog and you dont need the sensor.

I ended up putting it on the bow near my Humminbird puck

I wired it to the TM power source as i couldn’t find anything else up there

got out yesterday - this thing is great - I’ve had an ulterra on a previous boat and this is much better

If you have a depth finder up front (sure you do) tap into the power leads for that.....the puck will cut on/off with the main switch on boat. Thats what i did, in fact i bought a dual buss bar, placed the power from depth finder on bar, and added the puck, Garmin Panoptix ducer and Garmin unit to buss bar. Cleaned up the wiring and works great.

Yes there’s one up there. I got in a hurry toward the end and did what looked easiest. Oh well.
