    Red river contour map

What is best mapping for the Red river? I run Humminbirds and like Lakemaster. Does anyone know if they have a map for the river?

Yea I doubt that you will ever get a contour map for Red and if you do , I would not trust it as the bottom changes year to year , especially if it has been a flood year ,, couple years ago was up there after the flood and they were cleaning 4' of sand out of the boat ramp parking lot,,,

I wouldn't go by contours....There has been flooding the last few years with the recent being right now......what used to be accessible is now silted up, bottom shifts, etc.

Are you looking for electronic map for HB units or paper map?

The river changes yearly, so be cautious entering cuts into oxbows or backwater. It’s still about 2’ high here in pool 2 for example, and today I trolled threw a cut I usually run through....... when it drops to pool you’d get thrown out running that cut this year because it was only 2’ deep today..... with the water up.

Be careful, drop that troller first if your unsure of anything.

Just for reference after the major floods two years ago a set of rocks that I fish in the summertime used to be 15 feet deep. The whole jetty is now 2-3 feet deep. Contour maps for the red river are useless due to the river bottom constantly changing. I have also seen numerous places in the oxbows themselves that have dramatically changed. Guess I should add this is in pool 4.
