    Fuel filter

Basic question but when installing a new fuel filter/water separator do you put anything on the threads of the screw in sensor on the bottom or just screw it in snug?

I have 2003 vintage of same motor, nothing on the threads for 14 filter changes for me. The rubber seal does the "holding", like an oil filter on your car.

Sorry not the filter itself but the sending unit that screws into the bottom of it were the wire hooks up. Also how far into the filter does it go?

Gotcha - you're talking about the esnsor that screws into bottom, after removing hex plug. I always used plumber's Teflon tape. Sung-to-tight will get you there. Prime until bulb is hard, check for leaks.

Water in fuel sensor. Though not required, I use PTFE paste on threads.

Well I got it done. Ended up using Teflon tape ad screwed it up flush and snug. Ball tightened up and no leaks. I will check again later just to make sure. Thanks for the help.

I would NOT use Teflon tape, only liquid PTFE type sealers

"Perfect Seal" or PTFE Based Paste-Sealant.
