Need new tires for the trailer........Question for you Tire guys

I am surprised that I already have to buy a new set of tires for my boat trailer, but I have one with a slow leak that just can't seem to get fixed and 2 that have excessive wear.
What is currently on the boat is Carlisle Duratrail ST205/75/R14 Load Range C.
I am considering going to a Load Range D

    Pros and cons?

Green Slime on the slow leaker. I've fixed sidewall leaks I didn't think could be fixed. However, I would only recommend use as a spare. No real reason for that other than a margin of error.
Speed cost money. How fast ya wanna go? I have done so much for so long with so little. I can now do the impossible with nothing!

Call your local Cooper dealer and ask for the price on a set of load rated trailer tires.

When I owned a Basscat Puma, the trailer had passenger tires on it. I have heard both arguments about putting trailer tires on vs passenger tires as well........

Almost all trailer tires are made in China or Taiwan and they are JUNK....especially the Carlisles. Buy a set of light duty truck/suv tires and they last forever.

If tandem, and load permitting, passenger tires for sure. A set of American made car tires would be my choice. Should be easy to find car tires with at least 1150 pound rating. At 80% you could pull a 3500 pound rig easy. Actually 1300+ is very common. All I have ever used on tandem trailers.

Opinions regarding tire brands notwithstanding, my Carlisles running 5-6 years at 12k-15k miles with no issues on a tandem. Any decent tire shop should be able to locate a slow leak. Two tires with excessive wear sounds like a trailer issue and no tire brand change is gonna fix that.

Agree with the above. You will be fine with Carlisle load range D - those are good tires. I had several sets on my Skeeter and they were great. I believe Ranger still puts these on their trailers stock.

seen Carlisle on a brand new u Haul trailer other day, was surprised lolo , But I run passenger tires on my single axle trailer for many years.. 23 miles one way to lake, and have ran 120 miles to another lake doing 70-75 MPH on Interstate. I change them every 4 years, due to sits a lot.. besides local farmers like getting them for the field wagons, they so tight with $ .. they squeak haha

The new Goodyear Endurance is a D rated tire and made in the USA. I just put 4 of them on my Ranger trailer. $450.00 mounted and balanced at Sam's club.

Best speed rated trailer tire on the market is the Maxxis M8008.
