I am upgrading my electronics on my 198 and am looking for the best location to mount a Hummingbird S.I. transducer. I have a 6 inch Atlas jack plate and right hand power pole installed now. What location has worked out for those that have completed the installation?
I just put the SI xducer on the transom of my RT198p but when I upgrade to a MEGA, i'll put it on the jackplace with the Transducer Shield and Saver bracket. If you install the transducer on the jackplate, you won't get on plane readings.
If you install directly to the transom, get a plastic mounting board that gets attached to the transom and then you attach the transducer to the mounting board.
