Rod tie down option

Anyone with a Z-9 using the retractable rod tie downs, like to see some install pics, wanting to buy some but with the shallow gunnels, not sure where to install

Mine are mounted right on the deck. I am debating about removing them and going back to the rubber strap style that I had on my 929. I don't like having something that cluttering up the deck

That's another perk of the rubber straps....no moving parts either.

been using these for awhile. 2 on each side of the front deck & 1 in the rear on passenger side.
Work good, lays flat & no moving parts

Page 2 post #33. He cut a hole in the deck for the stap and the retractable box is under the deck - very clean looking if you feel comfortable cutting the hole.
