USA **BUILD ME A SPINNING OUTFIT***

I don't fish with spinning reels much but I would like to start using them more. Could someone recommend the perfect rod, reel, and line for senkos, trick worms, texas rigs? I will be fishing around docks, brush, and grass a good bit. budget is $400. Also, I am partial to Daiwa reels and Dobyns rods Thank ya'll in advance!

Can’t help you with Daiwa or dobyns but if it were me I’d save a little more and have the ultimate spinning combo

Find a used NRX 852 ($350ish) and then get a Daiwa Fuego for $100

For a little over budget one of the best all around multi use rods I have used is the Daiwa Tatula Elite AGS 7’1” Medium Ehrler rod, pair that up with a new Tatula LT 4000 (basically the old 3000 size) and you have a very well rounded setup.

Do the Gloomis nrx spinning rods feel different than their casting rods? I have an 854c for my jig rod and although it is a solid rod I like my Dobyns rods better. What line would yall run for this setup? 15# braid with a 10-12 fluro leader?

What ^ said. The 852S has an extra fast taper vice the fast taper of the 854C. You would not be disappointed with the 852s and reel of your choice.

I can’t speak on the feel of an 854C but to me the 852S feels very similar to my 893C. It just has that IT factor that I never felt with any Dobyns I owned. I run 15 lb braid with an 8-10 lb fluoro leader

    $400....hmmm....$200 rod....$200 Reel.
    Reel: CI4+ 2500!!
Rod: There are A LOT of great rods in the medium/fast arena and you do not NEED to spend a lot. stick in the 6-17lb line weight up to about 5/8oz lure weight. I have 2 medium/fast combos...split shot rig/TUBES mainly (more open water rod...dobyns champ 7'6" 3/16-5/8oz lure weight) and then a (Lews HM85 7'... 3/16-5/8oz lure weight) rod which is for weightless ochos/flukes/small swimbaits/EVERYTHING. All my spinning rigs get 10# PP Braid w/8# flouro leader sometimes 6#.

My other spinning combo's so you get an idea...
    2-lews HM85 Medium Lite/fast rods (1 Dropshot/ 1 Ned rig) w/daiwa ballistic reels.
1 BPS Bionic blade (6' MH)...for skipping docks. This rod is so underrated. (shimano symmetre reel).

I have an 852c which is the same blank and it's one of my favorite smallmouth rods, but if you want to stay under to your budget look at the kistler helium 3 and a tatula lt. Kistler has a sale right now and you can a tatula lt on ebay for $170. I love my nrx, but as little as I use my spinning gear I couldn't justify spending big bucks. I'm really content with my helium 3/tatula ss lt combo.

You could always spend more on either the rod or reel if there is one part of the combo you favor more. You can also look at some used gear as well which can stretch a budget some.

Semantics. For me this would be a high end combo if I used spinning gear all the time. I don't.

OP, why not look into getting a custom rod built? The Tatula LT might be a great reel for the price, but I think I could survive with a Fuego LT or BG...or even an Exceler LT if I had to.

    Dobyns Sierra SA703SF $169.00
    Daiwa Tatula LT 2500 - $180.00

The Sierra's are really nice rods for the money.

My go to spinning outfit is a Dobyns DX743SF and an old Daiwa Capricorn. I don't know how old that reel is but I'll never get rid of it. You can still find them on eBay occasionally.

X2 on the capricorns. Smoothest drag of any spinning reel I have ever had including all of the high end new ones.

I’d have to throw a St. Croix Avid X spinning rod out there, $200, I use almost exclusively 7’ Med Lights... great backbone, nice tip pair it with a 3000 series pfluger patriarch $200. Comes in right at budget and you’ll love it. Just my two...

Dobyns sierra 7ft medium light with a shimano sustain 3000, done and done. I also have both stradics and believe it or not have the ci4 on a 6,9 dobyns savvy series medium light and I actually believe the stradic might be too light. The sustain however is perfect.
