    Staple gun for recapeting bunks.

I am replacing my bunks on my trailer , I am using #1 prime pt 2x4's and carpet from bass cat boats and.1/2 monel staples.
I was using a manual arrow t50 gun and the staples were not going all the way home.
I called arrow and talked to rich in repair dept.and he said try the air stapler ( mod. T50).
I went to lowes and picked one up ( 32.00) works like a charm, buries the 1/2 monel staple.

I used 3/4 inch 18 gauge stainless staples.. I had to use a bunch of them but using an air powered stapler was MUCH better then with a hand powered stapler.

Just an FYI...I do not believe stainless staples are recommended for marine duty, from what I see on various websites. Monel looks like the way to go.

Had the Stanley Electric stapler and found it too weak to seat the staple in all the way. Air is the way to go !!

Stainless steel,is relatively soft, it's a low carbon steel. The moisture exposure will cause the wood in the bunks to shrink and swell. This cause a failure of the staples. They can be used hold the carpet in place, then secure with galvanized roofing nails.

Sample with different air pressure instead of wide open. Turn it down a little and it wont drive the staple as deep

When using fasteners in treated lumber, you should use something recommended for that type of wood. The treatment in the pressure treating process will actually eat away many fasteners.

Picked one up the other day, so much easier than the manual stapler.
