Ran several. Good motor for that boat, with a sporty or coned unit you should run as fast as mid 80's but more like low 80's and high 70's with 2. Best prop I've ran on it was a 26 b&b trophy with 2 people and a worked 27 with one. Reason I say worked trophy cause it has been my experience that a b&b trophy runs better and stays together better. You know how those trophies like to throw blades back at ya. Lol

When BASS rules were for a 150 limit, one of our guys had one that ran close to 70 with a 150efi. Not bad for a 20'er with a 150.

They are difficult to set up but when you get it where it needs to be, watch out.

I just bought a 1996 Astro F-20 that has a Mercury 200 EFI on it, but I am about to hang a Mariner 225 Super Mag on it and will need some info on setup to make it run like it supposed to ???

Now be ready to drive it, it can be a but difficult when you first get in it, but after you get use to it, drives like a charm. Guy I sold one to back in the day swore with his 200efi it would only run mid 60's before it got really ill handling. I went to the lake in it with him and drove it well over 70 with both of us. He got back in it and still couldn't get it past mid 70's. After a few trips to the lake he could drive it almost as well as I did. For best all around run a 26 trophy. I got my best speed with a 27 balanced and blue printed trophy. You should tourney fish with 2 people, gas, and gear around 75-77+. And with the worked trophy you should be 82-84 by yourself. I'm running a 250xb on mine right now at a tad over 90 gps. Was gonna try different props but think I'm gonna go back with a 225pm.

Listen to gcross he knows these boats like no ones business. I loved my 27 b&b trophy until i slung a blade then ran a sc cut performer 4 that did real well. A hydromotive ot4 27p did very well too. Those were with a 225 promax and a 1.87 fat shaft sporty and a Chris Bailey foil. I also had several 3.0 lt motors on mine and went back to a 2.5. It just handles and rides like it's supposed to.

Either of you ran the Promax prop on there? Wondering how it compares to the trophy on these hulls

I did and i did not care for it. It seemed to be much looser on the water than a trophy, hydro ot4, or performer 4. With the 3 leter motors i always ran bravo xs props.

I ran the F-20 yesterday and its drives and handles great. still just have the 2001 Mercury 200 EFI but I hit 70 mph and still had more to go but ran out of water. One of the best handling boats I have drove.

That hull is definitely a SLEEPER. Looks good, rides good, fishes good, and runs darn good.

What size jackplate does the best on these boats? Was thinking about ordering one of the new Atlas jackplates and have aquired a 2004 model Mercury 225X motor to hang on her!!!

I would stay with a 12" plate. I have ran 14 but not sure I saw any performance difference and the boat was designed for a 12.

The x2000 is a little lighter cause they took a lot of the wood out of it.

Heck you should have just bought mine It's close to mint condition. I know of a couple that were down this way. What color is it? One guy had a black and gun metal one with a 200efi that he couldn't get to run over low to mid 60's. I spent a couple hours on the lake with him and showed him the boat would run well over 70. My best speed with a 24 trophy was 73 solo and 71 with both of us in it. He just wasn't able to get past the chine walk (scared). He did manage to get it to 68. He said he was gonna sell it to get something that was more driver friendly but not sure if he ever did.
