    Z8 help!

Recently bought a 2012 z8 with a 2015 pro xs 200. Motor is only turning the 25 tempest to 5200rpms and top speed of 53. Is this normal?? Any suggestions or help would greatly be appreciated

You need a 24 Tempest or maybe even a 23,..should be around 5900rpms and 62-64mph.

What is your prop to pad measurement? Do you have a jackplate? If so, what type and amount of set back?

Your answers will help determine what to do next. I would think a call to a Nitro dealer will help. They can look up what factory specs, including what prop came on the boat. I’m thinking a 23 Tempest.

ALSO, make sure the motor’s compressor had the reed plate TSB completed. If you provide the serial number of the motor AND the date code off the compressor over in the Merc board, you will get the answer.

Setting these things up is a PITA. Mine is a 2011 with a 2011 200 pro xs. Boat came with 24p Fury. Tried moving the jack plate up and down and still couldn't get the bow to lift. Tried a 24p Tempest plus and got the bow to lift and adjusting the jackplate got to 67mph and 5600rpm. I wanted to hit 70 so I tried a 25p Tempest plus and got the same result by again adjusting the jackplate. Sent my specs to Mark Croxton and he thought we should tweak the 25p. Now I'm at 5300 rpm and 64.5 mph. This summer I,m going back to the 24p and start all over. BTW 53 mph is not normal for your set up.
I've got money I haven't even spent yet!
