It will be good. Shallow rocks/reefs in morning and evening. Docks and deeper rocks mid day. I'm a lipless crank bait guy that time of year, crawfish pattern specifically, but preatty much everything will work that time of year.
Thanks for info! Any recommendations on where to stay?
I try to support the businesses that support the smallmouth fishing in the area.

McQuoids is a nice place to stay good parking lots of plugins for charging and a ramp right next door.
Thanks!
2nd for Mcquoids. I wouldn't stay anywhere on the west side, casino included, with a boat for security reasons.
Thx for advice. I was gonna ask about casino.
i stay at other casinos in MN, they have armed security with dogs in the lots, im pretty sure stealing from the people who are bringing money into the res is not tolerated, is this not the case at millelacs?

Grand Casino has guards, unarmed. The reservation also has Tribal Police, who are licensed peace officers by the state/POST board. Nonetheless, the opioid epidemic has hit the native population especially hard. Addicts need to fuel their addiction.
How deep will fish be this time of year?
The problem with the Mille Lacs casino is it is in the depths of the most crime ridden neighborhoods in the reservation, just take a drive off the highway and you will see what I mean. As far as the depth of fish, they will be all over, some shallow some deep. If it's bright and sunny out, despite what you might think, look shallower as they will be feeding on crays on the rocks. If it's cloudy/overcast look deeper, as they will be feeding on perch and bluegill. Don't over look docks, inside turns and big rocks. The fish in Mille lacs are powerful swimmers and cover a lot of distance and fight like no other.
Don't flip or pitch to the docks either. Stay as far away as you can and cast to them. The water is supper clear.
WERE are you coming from ? STATE..
