I been using ring free and yamaha fuel stabilizer in my 03 hpdi. As far as oil, i switched last year to cabelas semi synthetic and it has been working well for me and had good reviews by others here on hpdis. Last year i got the oil on sale for $10 a gallon online from prairie du chein. Hopin for that sale again soon.

I use Pennzoil premium plus, startron and Ringfree. Since the switch to Pennzoil my spark plugs are much cleaner.

If I recall, I remember seeing a similar post on best oil to use. I think Rich Z posted saying something about either Pennzoil Premium Plus or Pennzoil XLF being good to use. I just bought some XLF, and once my go through my Yamaha oil, will be switching over.

Maybe he will chime in. Or do a post search.

I have been using the Yamaha Oil from a local dealer. He buys the drum and puts it in gallon jugs for $25 a gallon. I thought I was getting a good deal at that price but that Pennzoil is $10/gallon cheaper.

XLF or Premume Plus are both synthetic blend and can be used in any carb, efi or dfi motors. Top quality at great value

I use Mobil 1 EP, a superior fully synthetic oil in 10w30 weight. And the filter off a Ford Focus 2.0 is the same Yamaha uses--painted a different color.

I use XLF (cheaper) and a can of sea foam every couple tanks. Never have any issues and carbon is almost non-existent.

Yamalube burns very dirty. Probably the reason for ringfree! I’ll take the Pennzoil over the Yamalube every time.

    ^^^this.
    Smokes, builds carbon, causes problems.
Pennzoil is much cleaner and much cheaper. Protects just as well.
