    Bojangles at Harris

So how bad was your day? Mine sucked. Me and partner left at two. Heard 17.3 won. 3.26 got last check. Danny joe also said during blast Off and I quote “4 fish, 12-15.99 inch, 1 has to be over 20 inch for limit. And that was questioned 3 time on the water. Wonder if it held during weigh in.

He corrected himself before blast off and said you could have 5 under the slot. We got a lucky bite and finished 6th with one fish 6.48. Had to throw 2 really pretty slot fish back. Only 3 bites all day.

That Slot is exactly one of several reasons I don't like Harris.

Fished a tourney there several years back. After fishing #1 spot for about 45 minutes went to #2 spot and there was a boat sitting about 30'north of it . Piddled around for almost one hour before they cranked up and moved. Eased over and cast just beyond where he was sitting and when them cranks came over the #2 spot i caught 3 consecutive slots as big as i ever caught up there. The next 5 cast yielded 2 over 7lbs. Caught a 8lb 3 oz at the ramp just before weigh in. Did not win or have lunker. Long ride home with frozen toes and fingers. Left my boots under the carport with my gloves stuck in side one of the boots. Memorable day.

Sure didn't hear him correct himself nor did the 20 boats around us because we were sure talking about it.

Pretty sure it didn’t effect anyone... literally...
however that was for sure one of the toughest productive days I’ve ever had on the water...hopefully I’m done with harris for the year!

Amen....for tournament fishing that makes no sense. 99% of us release fish that are not dead.... well maybe NOT 99% but the point remains.

The slot was not created to save the fish/lake it was created to cut down on Tournaments.
Discipline is the key, if you can't hack it, pack it!

I think it does work. Many clubs avoid Harris due to the slot. Can you imagine the # tourneys there if there was no slot. They would dbl I bet.

The slot doesn't affect tourney's on Lake Fork in Texas, guy's just focus on catching fat unders. The slot protects the lake though.

One day I'll get to Harris to check it out. Does it still have Hydrilla?

The grass (hydrilla) will be back, They spray to control it more than kill it (I think). They have been doing it for several years now. "Back in the day" there was almost to much at times.

Good thing is they do not kill the Primrose off nearly as bad as the hydrilla.

This is from 6 years ago when there was a mat like this almost all the way around the lake. This was late summer 2012. It will not be back like this but it will be back.

fwiw...She made it out no problems... but I was worried I was going to have to go get her.

I really think the primrose holds the fish better anyway.
