    License plate light

Anyone have wiring issues with their license plate light on trailer? Mine appears grounded properly and took it apart and bulb looks fine. I've tried different connections and I just end up making all the surrounding wires too hot to touch.

I would recommend checking your leads with a volt meter. Find out which one is the supply for the light itself. Shorting out the wires may melt wiring inside the trailer channel requiring replacement. The license plate light would be the same wire as the tail light as they would go on at the same time.

Check the ground at the light and the connector for the hot wire. You will probably find the hot wire at the crimp connector is partially rusted through and will need to be redone.
