Items not included in Margay purchase

    Guys,
I went to a dealer yesterday and signed the paperwork on a leftover '17 Margay. I was a little surprised to learn that items like a trailer cover, batteries and even the motor brace are not included with the boat. Is this "normal" or does it vary by dealer?
    Thanks in advance.

Well, I made my purchase in 2004. A cover was $700 back then. Batteries were $75 a pop. I didn't expect these items for free.

I believe that is normal, at least on the boats that I've purchased. I'd imagine it might vary from one dealer to the next. I certainly wouldn't expect a cover to be included.

    Thanks for your experiences.
This was my 1st Bass Cat and came from a Skeeter previously where this equipment was included in the dealer stock boats. I realize too, many order their boats and include everything they want in the package.

I have always purchased new boats “water ready”. That means batteries included. Usually included a transom saver also. Cover is always an option though.

That most likely came under dealer prep. Whether supplied by the factory or dealer, you still pay for those items on any boat I have ever purchased.

That should be included in the dealer prep charges imo. But I guess every dealer is different.

If they are included when you pick up the boat, the cost of them is included in the price of the boat, so then you're paying for them for the length of the loan plus interest.

When I ordered mine we went over every little detail to include all of these issues including gas and oil upon delivery.

That is usually a line item we leave as Dealer Freight, Prep and TTL. (Taxes, title and license)

Did you buy the '17 from Wood Boat & Motor?

My Margay came ready for the water with batteries, but the cover was almost $1000 and the transom saver came off of my previous boat.

It's a great little boat and fishes and handles bigger than it is. Good luck and enjoy.

Thanks DB, looking forward to getting it on the water but the weather needs to cooperate and it's not even trying!
