Re powering TR-196 from 200 opti to 200 pro xs. What to expect?

Considering this, as alternative to newer boat. Will I see better fuel economy, holeshot, top end? If so, ideas as to what to expect. Thx!

There won't be much of a difference because they are essentially the same motor.

I thought the pro xs was supposed to have a few more hp and better fuel economy?

They made changes to the 200 pro xs in 2012 but didn't gain much. The 200 is a strong motor either way.

You will have a few gains IMO but not much! You will have a fresh motor with perfect compression and a couple extra HP which MAY be seen as a slight gain in MPH. Fuel consumption will be about the same.

I love my 200 proxs,, It runs much better than my 2.5L 200 EFI.. Mostly because it's a 3.0L and the fiber reeds help it.. It come out of the hole like a demon. Even better that my dads 225 Opti on his Tr21.. Only regret I have is not spending a bit more coin and going with the max hull rating of 225..
