Help! I Won A Nitro Boat Certificate

Anyone have any experience dealing with winning a boat certificate? I won this certificate fishing a Bassmaster open two weeks ago and I am having a hard time getting anywhere. It appears I have two options, receive the boat or sell the certificate. It appears I am bound to work through an authorized dealer for either option. I'd prefer to sell the certificate but it doesn't seem to be that easy. BPS Corporate pretty much told me I was on my own and good luck. Has anyone been in this situation before? If so, what route did you take? Does anyone have any Authorized Nitro Dealer Contacts that may be interested in working with me to buy this certificate?

Just go to a dealer and order the boat authorized on the certificate. Or offer it to the dealer and ask how much they would give you for it. Or you could just offer it for sale to the public. The problem there is it would have to be a cash sale as banks don't loan on a certificate.

Banks will loan on a cert if the boat is ordered or picked from inventory. Just need to work with the dealer. Technically, the loan is still for the boat, but instead of the dealer being paid from the bank the cert holder is paid.

I wish I could help you but I'm a loser. The only thing I've ever won was a Sony Walkman and that didn't require any skill.

I won a Triton once and sold the certificate. The buyer told the bank the situation and they said they would issue the loan when there is a serial # for the boat. I got my check when he got the boat. Worked out good for meand the buyer. Make sure you subtract the selling price from the MRSP and deduct the difference on your taxes.
