    2014 SHO

Good evening gents. I am looking at a new to me boat with a 225SHO. Have never owned a Yamaha. Any concerns that I should have for this engine up front? Can you check for issues if I get the serial #?? Does the below tell us anything other than a lot of hours? Thanks for any advice. BTW - the fella says he hasn't changed the plugs or serviced the motor since he got it. Says in the last year he has put less than 60 hours on it himself. So far this is all that I know about the motor:

Is that much idle time bad for this motor?

Must be a guide, pro, or retired. That's a bunch of hours for a '14 motor- wish mine had that many. Cause I'd have been fishing a lot more than I've been able to do.

If I knew that it had never been serviced and that many hrs, I wouldn't buy it but that's just me. I agree, these SHO's are bulletproof but still need maintenance done in order to make them last as long as they should. If it had been maintained, the hrs wouldn't bother me. Yamaha makes some great products to clean up the carbon produced from that much idling but no maintenance can't be fixed at this point. Just my 2 cents.

I don't know if I'd run from this one. A load of idle time, OK. I'd take that over a ton at WOT.

Is this fella the original owner and if not, how long has he owned the boat for? If he had the boat for a year or so, then it makes sense that no maintenance was done.
The SHO is designed to be run hard so long hours at WOT is not as large of a problem as many seem to think.
