Hummingbird 798 Ci HD Si

Hummingbird 798 Cihd Si. I ordered a puck and Y cable from Hummingbird. They sent me the XP 9 20. This is the correct transducer for this unit right? On box it shows being compatible with different 700 models but I don't see the 798 listed.

The XP 9 20 is a shoot-thru 2D transducer for 83/200 kHz. It is the correct one for your 798ci HD SI Combo.

Wayne. I plan on mounting my puck in the next day or so. I have a Javelin 18 Venom. Going to mount beside bilge pumps is the plan. Going to get it set take to river to make sure I get a good reading then go back and epoxy it in. Anything else I should know.

Excellent, on the water testing BEFORE you attach it to the hull is what you should do.

Wayne. Got everything installed this weekend puck reads great on plane. I bought the 798 used and when I start the unit up sometimes the menu button won't work and the zoom buttons(Everything else is normal). I can power the unit off and on and eventually menu and zoom buttons will work. I'm a little worried as I have a good bit invested in all this but that the chance you take buying used. Any suggestions?

A unit that old can have intermittent button issues. The power button on both of my 1198's are quirky when powering down.

Thanks Wayne. Once again I'm back with more questions. I'm looking buying the Lake master plus. From what I gather from Hb website this is compatible with my unit. Is this a good choice and would in have to do any software updates to my unit due to its age

The model you have is compatible, the other two versions of 798 are not.

Plus has satellite image overlay, the contour maps are the same with all versions of Lakemaster.

Do not know about software versions and Plus compatibility.
