Wanting to go from TM to SM on my 250 Pro XS

Anyone see any cons to this. I think I know most of the pros. I currently have the 4” spacers on but still have my 2” ones. Where is the best place to get the best price? Called Jacos today Bronson hasn’t called back yet.

You may could get lucky and find a good used one on here or Fast Bass. Scream will have em to sometimes....just be careful on there.

Assuming your running a boat that is going to be running faster than low 80's a SM is the way to go without a doubt. The speed and handling of a SM over a TM is pretty substantial. I would think most Mercury dealers could get a Sporty for you but the best way to get one without paying a fortune is to watch the forums such as this one, Allison Owners, Fastbass, Scream and Fly, etc. or even Ebay.

Wildman (Randy) on Scream and Fly used to buy new motors and swap the lowers for duel engine applications on the Liberator boats he sold. I bought a new unit from him a few years back. Check the for sale adds on S & F. His price was much less that a new one from a Merc dealer.

Absolutely no cons to going to a SM on that rig. Nothing but slow and less agile with a TM on a Bassport. I'll be looking for you down on Pickwick!

I know I traded my TM off my 250 Pro for a SM off a 300. That’s why I asked. Didn’t see where they’d be any diff in lowers.
