Yamaha SHO - how often to change plugs?

That's the question, how often to change the plugs? Seems like 100 hours is inspect but what hours do you normally replace the plugs?

Inspect every 100hrs, and replace as needed. I got 148hrs on my set they look normal.

I changed at 100. I guess I just assumed they needed it.

Inspect at 100 but imo if your gonna inspect than just change at 100. We tell all our customers to just change them at 100 instead of having to pay us to make a service call to change in a few more hrs. Keep it running at its best with new plugs every 100 hrs

Just a question. Why change plugs in a 4 stroke engine at 100 hrs when an auto runs 100k miles? I know its different applications, the outboards run harder and all. Logically it doesn't make sense. I'm not opposed to changing them at 100 hrs just wondering why!

Agreed, which is why I was asking the question. Motor runs fine after checking plugs last season.

Performance! Plugs do last longer now days but still you'll get better all around performance with fresh parts.
