Verado-Style Servicemaster is a COMPLETELY different gearcase than is being discussed in this thread (SEI and/or Standard/Servicemaster).

Verado-Style uses a gearset & clutchdog that are massive in comparison (same set used in the Gen-2 TM).

Best lower unit for a 250ProXS on the market is called "COST REPLACEMENT INSURANCE". Gone through 6 lower units, all OEM Merc and each time one has grenaded its cost a whopping 200.00. Gotta love those over priced pieces is junk.

Replacement Cost insurance is for Collision/Comprehensive (not mechanical failure of "junk" as you described it).

Progressive Insurance Propulsion Plus coverage pays to repair or replace the lower unit for mechanical break down including wear and tear.

Yes... but that is a different coverage than "Replacement Cost".

2 mechanical failures, 4 collision failures. Warranty never involved. Called good insurance. Try it some time.

No such thing as good insurance when your costing them money. They are in business to make money not pay out claim after claim to a policy holder. Enjoy it for now, because I'm sure your on there list to be terminated. You will be lucky to get a next to nothing policy for around $4,000 a year soon.

I think it is safe to say that after 40 yrs with one company, knowing what to ask for when obtaining the correct insurance, 11yrs 6 units I doubt very seriously a cancellation is in my future. 700.00 I think is the approximate cost per year. Its a good investment.

there are aftermarket, billet shift shaft and driveshaft seal kits, for the gen 1/sporty,that do an excellent job of keeping water out.,that are worth investing in.

Just replaced the seals & water pump in my TM (torqueMaster) again......My 3rd unit.
Hey CATCHEM, If you try the SEI, let us know how it does. If mine goes out again, will definitely look for something else. Can't be any worse than the TM, IMO. $2000 a pop ( literally) will make a rich man poor real quick. LOL.

You blew up 4 SEI units on a XS 250. Guess you wanted them to last on a engine that they are not intended to be used on because they will not hold up to the torque of a XS/Pro XS. So now you will never run another one.
