    Question Chickamauga Navigation

My son and I will be down @ Chickamauga last week of March and I assume that it will not be at full pool by then. I will mostly fish from Harrison Bay to the dam and was wondering if there are any trouble areas to avoid or look out for when driving down the lake. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Trouble areas are anywhere outside of the main channel buoys. Can go from 20+ to mud in a hurry once you get out of the main channel.

Lake does not start to come up till first week of April so it will still be at winter pool. There are alot of areas where you can get in trouble in a hurry. Every time I have been the past couple weeks I have seen someone beach their boat. A good map chip is a must for the out of towners.

There are lots of places that are OK, but lots that aren't. The locals know where the bad areas are, you don't. Stay in the channel and tread lightly when you get out of it. There is a tow boat guy on the lake, so if you are a member, you are covered if you get stuck.

Definitely get a good map chip for your GPS and stay in between channel buoys

Yes, but a Navionics will show the channel too.

It shows the biggest channels decently but there are many smaller channels leading back in to sloughs and smaller creeks that navionics either doesn't show or is totally off on. Being able to set the depth offset on the lakemaster is a huge help. Navionics is definitely better than nothing but don't trust it 100% to keep you off of the beach.
