    224 Valkyrie

I was just looking in our Academy weekly sale flier and they have a Savage MSR 15 Recon chambered for this round, I've never heard of it before what is it?

It's a new caliber developed by Federal... Federal and Savage are both owned by Vista.

The 224 Valkyrie is basically designed from the ground up to give .22-250 performance (AR10 length) cartridge in an AR15 length platform.
The barrel twist is also faster to stabilize heavier bullets. Its a neat round for novelty's sake, but for shooters who reach out
to 1000 yards and beyond are better suited by stepping up to the 6mm and 6.5 mm calibers. This is especially true if you are hunting instead of punching paper.

Well said, I haven't looked at the ballistics but I'm sure they are good. At the end of the day, these ammo and gun manufacturers are creating new caliber for improved performance and to sell more guns and ammo.
