    best transducer for trolling motor

    What transducer should i buy to put on my ultrex. Mostly fish water under 30 feet and it is for my 7610.

    Depending on what functions you want, look at the GT8 (2D only), GT22 (2D and ClearVu), or the GT52 (2D, ClearVu, and SideVu).

    No doubt, in general the GT15 will generally have better performance than the GT8. 1) Better sensitivity – The GT15, with its larger element, will detect smaller targets at deeper depths 2) Lower frequency band in GT15 (85-165kHz vs 145-230kHz) – Lower frequency allows for deeper depth performance. 3) Power difference - GT15 is a 600W transducer vs 250W for the GT8 – more power equates to more signal in the water.

    I do prefer the GT15 when mounting as inhull. But at the trolling motor, I prefer the "pod" style offered by the IH version of the GT8 (more durable fishing the stumpy East Texas reservoirs where I live).

    thank you. I had brain freeze and forgot that I have large black lid that opens into the stern, its near the main engine. I know that is where I have to locate it and where to test it.
