    Cranking battery requirements

    2002 Mercury 200 efi, serial #OT468833

Need to replace my cranking battery and was considering upgrading to an AGM. Is my motor ok to use an agm or should I stay with a flooded type? Also in case your wondering I am also running two livewell pumps, a talon, hds10 with structure scan, and an elite 7hdi off this same battery. My current flooded group 27 battery has been used for four full seasons with no issues.

If it has regulators, and not a alternator, Mercury recommendeds flooded acid starting batteries only. If you have been using that without problems for four years, why risk it.

The engine has an alternator, no regulators.

With an alternator you can go to larger capacity and AGM without concern. The wet cell only recommendation is for stator style charging systems.
