    Brake axle switch

I've had 3 EZ Loader tamden trailers. Last two had brakes on the rear axles, this one has brakes on the front axle. Is there a particular reason for the change?
    I got nothin

Can't say--- as I have never seen one set up that way.
I have been told for years it was a no-no.. because it would have a tendency to hop under hard braking.
It was explained to me that when the front brakes are applied the rear axle will have a tendency to rotate up..

What kind of axles? Torsion axles usually have the brakes on the front.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

Torsion on front and sprung on rear.
The geometry of the center pivot will help plant the axle when braking.
I've never seen a braking rear axle hop and I've had one trailer that the shock went out on the braking slide and it applied extra hard and right now.....still no hop?
You will see'em both ways though and either will work fine.

Cold and raining, but I did look and there are no springs on the front axle. Couldn't see the rear as yet. As far as hop, I had a bad hop once but the trailer was empty. Not on this trailer.

Thinking about it, sprung axles will hop when backing up with rear axle brakes IF the reverse lock out solenoid is not working.

CatFan is correct, torsion brakes on front, spring axle brakes on rear.
