    Shad Run

    When do the Shad show up in the James below Richmond. Had fun catching them years back but can't remember what month. Great place to take a kid fishing when they are running.

    When the Dogwoods Bloom.
    Depending on the consistency of water temps, usually, they start mid-late march but, can be pushed out as far as mid April.

    Yep, generally some there the last week of march. All of April is on fire. American shad, hickory shad, white perch, herring (have to put them back) Don't forget a sabiki rig for the kids to hop. But then you won't get to fish for taking perch and herring off for them.

    Per some reports I've seen, they are starting to show up now. I may have to duck out of work early on Friday....
