    New Yoder ys640 ordered

Anybody have any good tips or tricks? I’ve been eyeing them for a year or so and finally pulled the trigger.

There is a little learning curve to maintaining your temps but after you get adjusted to it you will like it. The grill grates and 2 piece defuser are a must have. You want to vacuum the smoker after it cools in between cooks, ash vacuum is handy for that. B&B or Lumber Jack Pellets are what I have the best luck with. For storing pellets I got Kingsford Charcoal storage buckets at Lowes. They will hold 40 lbs. each of pellets.

On the Yoder 640 there is a solid plate standard below your grates. With the 2 piece diffuser plate you will have a removable door that sits right above the burner pot. When vacuuming your fire pot out you just have to remove the door instead of removing the whole plate. Then when you want to grill you remove the door on diffuser and place the optional grill grates over the burner side and you can grill over open fire.
