    Water Pressure HDPI

Motor has low water pick-up and normally has approx. 7 lbs. idling and around 20 when running WOT. I raised the motor about 1/2 inch and improved my top end about 7 mph, now wot the water pressure gauge is pegged above 40. I would think if its getting air it would be less and erratic. Motor does not over heat. Maybe bad gauge???

    Thanks

I have yet to see a 2 stroke Yamaha have any pressure at all at idle. Check your gauge, betting it is bad. Cj

Not concerned with the pressure at idle, concerned that the pressure gauge is pegged high when on plane, never did it before raising engine 1/2 inch.

If the gauge does not return to 0 when motor is turned off than it is bad. Perhaps it froze at some point.

Guess I should have been more clear. With your gauge reading high at idle, I would bet the bourdon tube is sprung from freezing or over pressure like Rich stated. You will loose water pressure from raising the engine. Check your gauge. Cj

250HPDI brand new hoses from motor to gauge, flushed engine out completely, brand new complete Yamaha water pump kit and brand new gauge(from ranger) and at idle basically doesn't move the gauge, WOT between5-10PSI.

Bad pressure relief valve. (Popet valve) Probably has some crap built up in it or is just not sealing correctly. Replace the valve and life will be good again. I have 2 to 3lbs in gear and 4 to 5 lbs out of gear at idle.
