Stick to the boat lanes and idle out of the lanes. Shallow and full of cypress stumps. Pay attention to the lane numbers as you travel or may get lost. Looks like a open lake on the map, but is really a cypress swamp on the Texas side.

Most important fact about Caddo ———- the ONLY Natural lake in the state of Texas.

Only lake I ever been on that had road signs. Wangdoodle Pass, Government Ditch are two I remember. You can get yer ass lost fairly easy on that lake, but with all the gps gadgets on today’s boats I suppose that wouldn’t apply.
I had no gps when I was there.

I caught my one and only chain pickerel there, on a crankbait. A lot of history behind Government Ditch, I’ll let y’all research that.
A really cool lake to see for sure.

Another tidbit, y’all ever see the movie Southern Comfort, about the National Guard playing weekend war games and got lost in the Swamp, and run across some Cajuns that played war with them and were not pretending.

It was filmed on Caddo Lake.
